2014........how can that be? Time truly DOES fly. This year I am working on taking care of ME. As mothers, we tend to take care of everyone else (and are happy to do so). Now, my children are all adults and live out of the "nest." Though it's very hard to detach and let them spread their own wings, I know it's what needs to happen. I probably should have made some better adjustments sooner, but it's never too late to learn new habits.
One important thing I need to do is take off some of this excess weight. It's nothing major, but my HEALTH is going to be a priority in 2014. Mitch and I got off to a GREAT start with the New Year by getting out of town to the coast for about 8 days. We went to his dad's house for 3 days and then to Santa Cruz for 6. Jenna and Kase came for most of our week in Santa Cruz. Trenton came for a brief time and Jennie, Jordan & Cristiano came at the end of the week. SO MUCH FUN!
As you know, I LOVE to ride my bike. I got to begin my New Year with 6 fabulous rides! Mitch's dad lives in Pacific Grove, so believe me, 17 mile drive is probably the most fantastic ride in the United States! Below are a few pictures from my 3 rides there. Each ride was about 24 miles.
From Pacific Grove, we traveled up the coast-line to Santa Cruz. We LOVE Santa Cruz probably because it's where we have spent most of our family vacations. The 1st vacation I ever went on with Mitch's family when we were dating was in Santa Cruz. I have such wonderful memories of taking our kids to the Boardwalk every summer. We actually got to relive some of those memories with our GRANDKIDS!
I was able to ride three times here in Santa Cruz which was wonderful. I found a great trail up to UC Santa Cruz which made for some great climbing!
Well, New Year.........I wonder what you have in store for us? I'm excited to find out!
